Reduce sugar, salt and fat in your diet, this means using less during preparation. You will buy them less frequently and will save in the long run. You will also buy the prepared foods and meat with too much of them less often. If you buy soda pop, sweetened beverages, energy drinks without nutritional value remove them from your diet. Use water, tea and coffee without cream. Make your own vitamin water using fresh citrus juice. Make use of a Freezer

Instead of cooking for one meal, cook in bulk and freeze for another meal or two. Avoid wasting leftovers, save them for snack or bag lunch the next day. Some vegetables and fruit can be frozen, stock up on them when they are on sale and freeze them. Make your own bread, muffins, pancakes and pies from scratch. Beans & Legumes

Use them instead of meat, poultry or fish, they are excellent alternative, more nutritious and are cheaper. Buy dry beans and legumes, they will stretch your dollars even more.

Meat can be expensive!

Some canned fish such as tuna, salmon, mackerel and sardines are cheaper than fresh or frozen fish and are especially beneficial to a healthy diet. Use them instead of red meat.

Know the recommended food intake for your age and gender. Do not over eat, many people overeat out of habit. They may be eating for more than one. This is not only costly but it is a cause of overweight.
