Do you know your rights as a consumer when dealing with a retailer?
After buying that well needed item, it is not uncommon to be faced with an expected bad deal. Although friends and family members may be eager to give their advice at times like these, nothing beats knowing your rights as a consumer.
Consumer complaints can vary, from a purchase price, to a warranty expiration, to items on sale. Your rights as a consumer will also vary based on where you live.

Shipping- You purchased a gift which the retailer said will arrive within a certain period. but it did not.
The law requires that orders placed online, by fax or phone be shipped within 30 days of purchase.
At The Supermarkets
Products that run out when there is a sale - The law requires that rain checks be given on advertised items or a substitute of a similar product be available.
Returning Items
The retailer is not accepting return because of a health reasons
The law does not prohibit returns on items such as earings, bathing suits or underwear because of health reasons. Merchants can; however, adopt their own policy.
In Store Price Differs
An item was priced for less in the store than it was at the checkout- The law is that the retailer does not have to honour the store price if an error was made. Stores that intentionally post misleading prices are; however liable.
Other Complaints The manufacturer wants you to pay the shipping costs for items under warranty.
The manufacturer says your warranty on your vacuum cleaner is void because you used third party vacuum bags.
