Prepare Your Own Meals Preparing your meals at home will stretch your food dollars and save on your grocery bill. You can control how much you eat and what ingredients you use. You can measure portion sizes.
For weight control it is vital that you eat the right amount and type of foods. Do not overeat, it costs more and you will be overweight.

Make use of a freezer- Instead of cooking one meal, cook in bulk and freeze for another meal or two.
Avoid wasting leftovers, save them for snack or bag lunch the next day. Some vegetables and fruit can be frozen, stock up on them when they are on sale and freeze them.

Beans & Legumes- Use them instead of meat, poultry or fish, they are excellent alternative, more nutritious and are cheaper. Buy dry beans and legumes, they will stretch your dollars even more. Meat can be expensive.
Canned fish such as tuna, salmon, mackerel and sardines are cheaper than fresh or frozen fish and have extra health benefits. Use them instead of red meat or poultry.
Do Not Overeat Do not eat more that you need, many people overeat out of habit. They may be eating for more than one. This can be the reason for overweight.
You can reduce your grocery bill and eat healthier by eating only what is recommended for healthy eating. You will control your weight and have more vitality.
