According to the authors of a study, high income does not necessarily bring happiness, but a better life.

The study which was done in 2008 and 2009 by a Gallup poll found that the lower a person's salary FALLS below $75,000 the unhappier he/she is. The report; however, found that no matter how high the salary went ABOVE $75,000 it made no difference; the respondents reported no greater happiness.

The study involved responses of 450,000 Americans. Participants were asked:

  1. How they had felt the previous day

  2. Whether they were living the best possible life for them.

  3. Their income.

Eighty five percent of respondents felt happy each day regardless of their income. Almost 40% reported feeling stressed and 24% had feelings of sadness.

The study found that a low income did not cause sadness, but these people seem to get bugged down by existing problems.

Fifty-one percent of people with an income of $1000/month reported feeling sad the previous day, while 45% of those with an income of $5000 expressed the same sadness.

In the book, 'HAPPY' the author reveals some secrets to enduring happiness. You do not need to overhaul your life or seek a higher income to start. Get Started.
