Changes in lifestyle and medicine are responsible for a health trend which showed heart disease as the number 1 cause of deaths in the USA. a position it has held for decades.

If researchers predicted correctly Cancer would have replaced Heart Disease as the number killer in the USA; however it is not so.

According to a report cancer is holding the same position as Heart Disease, meaning cancer has just caught up with it as the number1 killer.

The data for the report started in 1950; the number of heart disease deaths was roughly 2.5 times higher than deaths caused by cancer at the time.

According to researchers by the 1980s, the number of deaths due to heart disease started to decline, but deaths from cancer continued to rise and had nearly tripled by 2011.

It was predicted that cancer would take over as the number 1 cause of death in 2010; however, a recent survey showed that cancer has caught up with Heart disease to battle for the number 1 cause of deaths. Both diseases rose 3% between 2011 and 2014.

Deaths from heart disease were at an all time high at 771,169 in 1985, but fell to 596,577 in 2011; it rose to 614,000 in 2014.

Cancer deaths rose from 210,733 in 1950 to 576,691 in 2011; it rose slightly to 591,699 three years later in 2014.

Globally cardiovascular disease is still the number 1 killer, 17.5 million people died from cardiovascular disease in 2012, about 31% of all global deaths.

-7.4 million due to coronary disease.

-6.7million due to strokes

In 2012 the same year, 8.2 million people died of cancer.
