'Vegetables & Fruits’ is one of the four food groups and is the most important for health and vitality.
Vegetables and fruits provide important nutrients such as Vitamin A, B and C, magnesium, potassium, folate, fiber, iron, beta-carotene, calcium and carbohydrates.
Dark green and orange fruits and vegetables provide added nutrients.
1- Dark green are rich in folate and vitamin-A
2-Orange fruits and vegetables are rich in carotenoids. Vegetables and fruits are low in fat, calories and sugar so their is no restriction to their use. Unlike the other three food groups there are no health risks associated with them.
For good health, preventing disease and recovery from illness vegetables and fruits are our friends.
Many research have been done and have linked inadequate intake of fruits and vegetables to cancer, heart disease, strokes, diabetes, COPD, obesity, respiratory and lung diseases, poor immune system and more.

Vegetables and fruits are the key food products in preventing non-communicable diseases; they are necessary for good nutrition throughout the lifespan.
How Much vegetables and fruits do we need?
As with all the food groups there is a recommended daily intake of fruits and vegetables for our health and vitality. Being the most important food group, we require more of them than the others.
The amount we need is based on our age and gender and not on weight. Oveweight people must be careful not to reduce their food intake by cutting back on vegetables and fruits.
