Smokers Get Ready For Plain Packaging

Smokers must get ready for plain cigarette packaging in a GLOBAL effort to get smokers to quit.
Smoking is a major health risk factor and a top global health issue.
Each year smoking takes the lives of millions of people worldwide with smoking the number 1 cause of chronic diseases and premature deaths.
World No Tobacco Day is a yearly health event, its purpose to raise awareness of smoking and the health risks associated with it.
Every year the World Health Organization(WHO) hosts the world event on May 31 in a global effort to stop smoking.

This year the theme is: "Getting Ready For Plain Packaging"
Over the years a lot has been done to raise global awareness and to reduce the number of people who smoke.
Let us take a look at the previous years' themes, they show how much has been done and to what extent.
2012- "Tobacco Industry Interference."
2013 "Ban Tobacco Advertising, Promotion and Sponsorship."
2014- "Raise Taxes On Tobacco"
2015- "Stop Illicit Trade Of Tobacco products."
What is Plain Packaging?
The WHO refers to 'Plain Packaging' as "measures that restrict or prohibit the use of logos, colours, brand images or promotional information on packaging, other than brand names and product names displayed in a standard colour and font style.
What does it mean?
No logos, colours, brand images or promotional information
Pack surfaces in standard colours
Brand and products name in standard colour and font
Graphic health warnings used in conjunction with plain packaging
