Health conscious people who live a healthy lifestyle can expect to live longer. At the same time, the risk of alzheimer's is increased as one ages.

The study linked exercise to the prevention of cognitive decline.

Exercise is well known as necessary for health and longevity, while lack of physical activity is a known risk factor for chronic diseases, disability and premature death.

For the study, researchers reviewed about 5,000 other studies and found that when compared with the regular intake of supplements exercise feared better and it is a better choice for fending off alzheimer's.
Researchers found that intake of supplements does not prevent cognitive decline leading to alzheimer's. They found no evidence to support supplements such as: ginkgo, vitamin B and omega-3 can prevent the disease.
The bottom line is to keep the brain physically and mentally active to delay the onset of alzheimer's.
Regular exercise is a good lifestyle habit for health and longevity, while being physcially and mentally active will prevent better mental health in older years.
The experts recommend the use of crossword puzzles and sudoku as a form of cognitive exercise instead of supplements.
Several studies have been done on the prevention and a cure for alzheimer's disease and more are planned.
