When planning for your Self Care, don't ignore colds and flus. Taking care of yourself to prevent them or taking care of your health when you have them are self care activities.

According to researchers those who involve themselves in regular meditation or exercise have fewer colds and flus than those who participate in neither.

For the study, researchers used 149 participants. In a randomized trail they were split them into three groups:

  • Group 1-Those who participated in mindless meditation

  • Group 2-Those who had regular moderate-intensity exercise

  • Group 3- A control group who did neither.

1-Group 1 had 257 days of the cold or flu 2-Group 2 had 241 days 3-The control group had 453 days.

The study ran from September 2009 to May 2010.

Both meditation and exercise are effective in controlling blood pressure and in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Regular exercise is necessary to prevent noncommunicable diseases, also known as chronic diseases. Regular exercise will prevent overweight, obesity and obesity related illnesses. It is not surprising that they have a positive effect on the immune system.

Exercise is a key self care activity before, after, with or without medical intervention. Meditation improves your overall health and vitality.

Put them both on your self-care list.
